Besides our brand-new
ProMAX
Body Armor, we offer police surplus at a significant savings.
Police Surplus
might be used vests in good condition, or, they might be vests that
have sat in police inventory for a few years, and are just like-new.
Either way, ballistically, they do the job they are supposed to...

NIJ tests
failed to demonstrate any significant differences in 10-year-old armor,
regardless of the extent of use or apparent physical condition
The warranty
exists solely to limit the manufacturer's liability on the product and
is not a reflection of the anticipated service life of the product.

To see for ourselves, we held the
11-Year-Old
Vest Shootout

PHOTOS
We shot
an 11-Year-Old, Level II Vest with four, 9 mm FMJ rounds, plus 00 Buckshot,
from 24" (61 cm).
The
deepest penetration was not even halfway through!
In the absence of abuse such as machine washing, or
ultraviolet exposure, Aramid ballistic fiber is good for many, many
years. However, legally, the Manufacturer's Warranty expires after
an arbitrary 5 years. (Could it be that manufacturers want to sell
more vests every 5 years???) Police departments (and their insurance
companies) go to great lengths to avoid potential lawsuits. So, even
though the vests are in an excellent, or like new condition, they
are not reissued!
Even though the
body armor is still perfectly acceptable, ballistically, according
to the NIJ...
Body
armor will frequently be returned to inventory, often as the result
of an officer retiring or accepting other employment. Armor may
sometimes be removed from service because it no longer fits the
individual to whom it was originally issued. Unless the armor shows
signs of abuse, it may be reissued to another officer
